SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems have been installed in modern diesel engine cars and vans since around 2014, with truck and tractor manufacturers adopting the system as early as 2007. The purpose of the system is to inject AdBlue, a solution composed of 32.5% urea and 67.5% ionized water, directly into the vehicle’s exhaust system. This solution sprays onto the combustion fumes, significantly reducing the amount of NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) in the engine’s emissions.
